Exis, the black tri Tyke daughter, has also had a leading role in the success of Black Rock kennels. The "mother of champions," Exis never quite reconciled herself to a dog's life. Exis was co-owned early on and returned to Black Rock full time as a three year old. She immediately adopted the master bed as her own, the living room couch as her nap bed, and any available lap as a pillow. She inherited her father's penchant for smiling and talking and has passed those traits on to her pups.
Exis is a lady of elegance and style. Quite formal on first introduction, she quickly degenerates into too-familiar silliness, rolling in cow patties and trying to catch fish in a stock tank and then jumping onto the nearest human's lap to share her joie de vivre.
Bred three times, Exis stays in touch with various of her pups through her letters and photos. She is a particularly attentive mother, always offering wise counsel. Letter from Exis to Rocky.
Exis retired as an "only dog," and moved to Denver, Colorado with Robin Schmidt and Kylie Schuster.
Exis' last litter, in July 1998, produced two particularly promising puppies, Ch. Black Rock's Imperial Tarn HT, NAJ, AAD, OA (Tahoe) and Ch. Black Rock's Victory at Sea HT(Pacifico). Exis was OFA excellent. She was a CEA carrier per DNA testing.
Exis died on September 30, 2005. She was 15 years old.
